VB Heritage by Namma Veedu Vasanta Bhavan, Mylapore

Back again. Hope you are good. The last post was Nithya Amirtham on July 9, I know it’s a long gap because of hardships such as GST 😜. Finally we decided to try out the newly renovated Namma Veedu Vasanta Bhavan near the Adam Street, Mylapore.

True to its the name, the ambience, people and all the factors attached were pleasant and lively. Good to see some staff from the North-east (haven’t seen that in any other Vasanta Bhavan before). From the moment we sat on the table, we had a waiter to take the order. Quick .. !!

1. Paneer 65 – INR 165.

Served in an egg shaped plate with 2 sauces, this was our obvious starter as Paneer Lovers. Though I make it a point to control my drooliness for Paneer, I am unable to 🙁. Why God .. why me .. ? !! The dish was good and had enough pakodas/bajjis for 2 people. Try it out for sure mates.

2. Paneer Do Pyaza – INR 140

When asked what’s new for the day, the waiter directed us to this that was present on the table next to us (an English group was having it). It’s Chilly Parota with Paneer was the explanation that was given and we wanted to try it out (since that too had Paneer 😝😝). When it arrived and we had a bite, my goodness this is so great. You have to try this whenever you come here. Served with Onion Raita, this was their best as far as I have eaten. Such a marketing gimmick by the waiter to make people try new things especially this. This gets a huge thumbs up .. !! 😎👌

3. Masala Dosai – INR 75.

When you have your roots so rooted to the south, that too in TN, you cannot imagine a life without Dosai. It is the easy, safe and most loved tiffin that is eaten by the people irrespective of the shape served. You just want to eat it with anything that resembles the word side-dish such as Curd, MolagaPodi, Coconut Chutney, Mango Pickle, Sambhar, Potato Fry, etc. When it’s served with the Masala (from Poori), OMG .. that’s bliss 💗😍 .. the bliss you get when you listen Naane Varugiraen, Pudhu Vellai Mazhai and other Rahman songs (I m an Ilayaraja Fanatic too, please don’t come to change this). I don’t think I should explain more than this 🙂

4. Podi Idly – INR 40.

The most #Foodgasmic pic I have ever taken (as commented by one of my friends). Evey bite of the Idly had the podi. Neatly oiled and served with 3 chutneys and Sambhar. Idly and Dosai are brothers or even twins (non identical obviously). You cannot afford to hate Idly. It’s great for breakfast and dinner. It’s light and doesn’t make you feel heavy. That’s how we completed our dinner.

2 Paneer’s, 1 Dosai and 1 Idly. Wholesome ☺️ pictures along with the bill is attached, do check out.

The restaurant is near Adam Street, next to the China Bazaar, South Mada Street, Mylapore. Let me know your experience in the comments below. Stay tuned, until I save for the next dinner/lunch 😂✌️
